One of Emmaus’ business ideas is to create jobs and meaningful employment for people regardless of their background, needs, or functional variations through reuse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Emmaus Westervik has five permanent employees and several hourly workers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also have the opportunity to accept interns and work experience students, volunteers, and community service workers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We offer supported employment through the Western Uusimaa Welfare Area’s disability services unit. Supported employment means work training carried out at the Emmaus flea market and in sorting, involving a variety of tasks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also offer light rehabilitative work (kevyt tuki) in goods reception and sorting, as well as at the flea market. The tasks involved in rehabilitative work are designed to improve the client’s chances of entering the labor market. They are planned individually so that the work is both developmental and meaningful, promoting the client’s working ability and well-being. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

At Emmaus, everyone gets to work according to their own abilities and develop on their own terms. We want to motivate and include our employees, volunteers, interns, and people in rehabilitation by offering meaningful and socially important work and a social context. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many volunteers also participate in the organization’s activities. Volunteers work more than 3,800 hours annually at Emmaus. Their contribution is vital to the organization’s activities\u2014without volunteers, Emmaus could not function. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
